Gao, Lu add two sprint golds for China at pool

Gao Chang and Lu Zhiwu edged Japanese opponents to add two sprint golds for China at the Asian Games swim competition, bringing the host’s gold tally to 11.

Gao won the women’s 50-metre backstroke in 27.45 seconds at the Aoti Aquatics Centre on Monday, beating Japan’s Aya Terakawa. Lu prevailed in the men’s 50 freestyle, clocking 22.37 seconds. Japan’s Masayuki Kishida and Rammaru Harada were second and third.
