A.L. Gandeepan and P. Venkateswaran combined well to tally a plus 12 score for the top spot in the prime category (0 to 18) of the first edition of the annual golf tournament for the Nilavan Trophy at the par-72 Coimbatore Golf Club course in Chettipalayam on Sunday.

Arun Kulandaivelu and V. Rajendran, with scores of plus seven, finished for the second spot.

The tournament, played on four-ball best ball, against bogey and choose your own partner format, attracted 120 golfers from this part of the region.

The results:

Category 0-18: 1. A.L. Gandeepan / P. Venkateswaran +12; 2. Aruna Kulandaivelu / V. Rajendran + 7. 19-30: 1. Sunku Radesh Kumar / V. Unnikrishnan + 10; 2. Balakrishna Shetty / P.B.H. Pawar + 6.

0-30: 1. S. Bharat Ram / S.N. Saravanan + 1; 2. S. Ajay Alagar / Nakul Prakaash – 2.

Seniors (above 70 yrs, individual): V. Jayaraman + 2.

Special awards: Closest to the pin: K.V. Srinivasan 6-ft 10inches. Longest drive: Nikhil Sunil. Straight drive: M. Ramu 3 inches.

Chip for a nett (zero plus): S. Ajay Alagar (sixth hole); V. Ayyachamy (17th); V. Chinnaswamy (8th); Jayen Menon (1st); D. Lakshminarayanaswamy (6th); S. Pradeep Raj (14th); N. Ramachandran (4th); Sri Hari Prasadh (2nd); K. Subramanian (4th); P. Karthikeyan (4th).
