Gagan Narang finishes fifth in shooting World Cup

Gagan Narang placed fifth in men’s rifle prone event in the shooting World Cup that concluded in Fort Benning, US, on Wednesday.

Narang was set to march towards the medal before two shots of 9.8 pulled him out of the race after he had led the former world record holder Warren Potent of Australia by 0.1 point. Narang had qualified in the fourth place with a score of 627.8.

The results: 50m free rifle prone: 1. Henri Junghaenel (Ger) 208.9 (628.3); 2. Liu Gang (Chn) 208.0 (629.6); 3. Nickolaus Mowrer (US) 186.8 (626.4); 5. Gagan Narang 143.9 (627.8); 48. Satyendra Singh 618.4. MQS: Surendra Sinh Rathod 619.6; Chain Singh 608.6.
