Frantic rescheduling to accommodate Sharat

February 06, 2015 11:25 pm | Updated November 26, 2021 10:26 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Sharath Kamal’s European League club Borussia Dusseldorf is in the process of making efforts to reschedule its European Club championship semifinal, as it clashes with the Asian Cup which he intends to participate in.

“Our club’s first match is on March 13, which is during the Asia Cup. So, now both the teams are discussing if they should change the date of the first match, as Gao Ning (who plays for club Chartres) is also playing in the Asia Cup,” said the Chennai-based player.

Sharath’s absence at the National championships in Puducherry last month due to his club commitments had not gone down well with the Table Tennis Federation of India.

The National body ignored Sharath for the Asian Cup to be held in Jaipur from March 13 to 15. However, Sharat has entered the tournament based purely on his world rankings.
