Four titles for Indian boxers

Four Indian boxers have won titles in their respective weight categories in the Golden Glove of Vojvodina, an international youth boxing event in Kikinda, Serbia.

A. Silambarasan (52kg) and Manish Solanki (69kg) in the men’s section and Rajesh Kumari (48kg) and Chanda Udanshive (51kg) among women claimed the top honours.

Silambarasan edged past Scotsman Stephen Boyle. He was adjudged the ‘best boxer’ of the event. Solanki outsmarted Serbian Stanojeviæ Lazar for the title. Rajesh Kumari defeated Bulgarian Poptoleva Valentina, while Chanda upset Bulgarian boxer Buyuklieva Marina in the finals.

Youth World Championships bronze medallist Lalitha Prasad (49kg) and reigning national champion Neeraj Parashar (64kg) had to be content with silver medals. Marthamma Sattivada (64kg), Diksha (91kg) and Pema Chotan (+91kg) also gathered silver in the women’s section.
