The head of European basketball has died during a trip to Switzerland.
The international basketball federation says FIBA Europe president, Olafur Rafnsson died in Geneva, where he had travelled for the official opening of FIBA’s new headquarters on Tuesday. He was 50.
The cause of death was not announced.
Rafnsson was also president of the National Olympic Association of Iceland. He was a former basketball player and was elected FIBA Europe president in 2010.
