Dynamo Moscow downs Mumbai Fighters

Dynamo Moscow won away 3-2 against Venky's Mumbai Fighters in seventh round Group A action at the World Series Boxing 2011-12.

Riding on the confidence of a 0-5 rout at home in Perm, the visitors gave a power-packed display at the T-Box stadium, Inorbit Mall and clinched the fourth victory in seven matches.

Gaurav Bidhuri's defensive abilities carried him through a barrage of punches against Vladimir Nikitin for a split points decision in bantamweight class. The Indian youngster scraped through on points 2-1, giving Mumbai Fighters a winning start. The scores were 46-49, 48-47, 48-47.

Siddharth Varma engaged in close punching against faster and sharper Adlan Abdurashidov, then got battered as the fight stretched to five rounds and lost 0-3 in lightweight category as the visitors drew level after two bouts. Adlan kept firing blows to Varma's body in the first two rounds, using long reach to connect with stinging lefts and followed it up with thundering body punches. By the fourth and fifth rounds, the Dynamo Moscow boxer pranced around the ring before sneaking in for swift punches. The judges ruled 45-50, 45-50, 45-50 in his favour.

Dynamo Moscow middleweight Maxim Gazizov outlclassed Sanjin Vroc, southpaw Vladimir Sheles recovered from the impact of Leonid Charnabayeu's early blows in light heavyweight to win a clear points decision.

Heavyweight Arsanbek Makhmudov could not unleash his fearsome right against a moving target in Tonga fighter Uaine Fa Junior, the latter winning his first bout for the Indian franchise.
