Dipika Pallikal loses in final

January 28, 2012 01:41 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:53 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Indian squash player Dipika Pallikal's wonderful run in the Tournament of Champions in New York ended when she lost in the final, losing to second-seeded Australian Natalie Grinham 4-11, 3-11, 3-11.

After the hectic schedule she had been through — eight matches in nine days — it was not easy to keep the momentum, more so against an experienced player like Grinham, who now represents the Netherlands. The 33-year old veteran won in 25 minutes.

Dipika, who was seeded seven, still had the satisfaction of being the first Indian to reach the final of a Silver event.
