The Goa fund-raiser for Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), the Geet Sethi-Prakash Padukone-promoted sports NGO, received a big boost with industrialist Shrinivas V. Dempo announcing a Rs. 20 lakh a year contribution for three years.

“Dempo hosted the event in Goa recently. We had an OGQ board meeting that was followed by a fund-raising dinner. He has decided to contribute Rs. 20 lakh for each of the next three years upto the Rio Olympics in 2016,” said Viren Rasquinha, CEO, OGQ.

Present at the Goa event were chess champion Viswanathan Anand, badminton star Saina Nehwal, Sethi and the other OGQ board members.

The OGQ will soon announce a brand new online funding initiative to prepare four athletes for the Commonwealth Games to be held at Glasgow, Scotland, and the Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea.
