Delhi wrestlers win four gold medals

Delhi wrestlers won four of the five gold medals at stake on the fifth day of the 57th National School Games here on Sunday.

The results: Wrestling: Boys: U-19: 42kg: 1. Pappi (Del), 2. Anuj (UP), 3. Mer Ramji (Guj) and Parveen Patil (Mah). 46kg: 1. Amit (Del), 2. Mandeep (Raj), 3. Manish (HP) and Gopi Chand (Mah). U-17: 76kg: 1. Hitesh (Del), 2. Amit (Har), 3. Kamlesh (MP) and Vikas (UP). 85kg: 1. Mandeep (Del), 2. Ashutosh (UP), 3. Tushar (Mah) and Amit (HP). 100kg: 1. Gursevak (Pun), 2. Manjeet (Del), 3. Rajiv (MP) and Rahul (Har).

Basketball: U-19 (quarterfinals): Boys: Delhi bt Tamil Nadu 55-26; Madhya Pradesh bt Chandigarh 57-35. Girls: Delhi bt Tamil Nadu 63-25; Haryana bt Rajasthan 45-32; Rajasthan bt Karnataka 36-35.

Kho-kho: U-14 (quarterfinals): Boys: Delhi bt Andhra Pradesh 19-7; Haryana bt Karnataka 11-10; Maharashtra bt Rajasthan 15-6. Girls: Delhi bt Maharashtra 12-7; Karnataka bt Himachal Pradesh 7-3; West Bengal bt Rajasthan 8-7; Haryana bt Andhra Pradesh 11-1.

Hockey: U-19 (quarterfinals): Boys: Delhi bt Madhya Pradesh 3-0; Indian Public Schools' Conference (IPSC) bt Uttarakhand 6-2; Punjab bt Odisha 2-0; Haryana bt Uttar Pradesh 1-0. Girls: Maharashtra bt Uttarakhand 3-1; Delhi bt Madhya Pradesh 6-1; Himachal Pradesh bt Karnataka 4-0; Haryana bt Uttar Pradesh 10-0.

Handball: U-14 (quarterfinals): Boys: Delhi bt Manipur 21-6; Maharashtra bt Chandigarh 20-15; Punjab bt Bihar 19-13; Haryana bt Rajasthan 25-17. Girls: Delhi bt Himachal Pradesh 16-7; Haryana bt Karnataka 8-1; Punjab bt Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan 11-7; Manipur bt West Bengal 6-5.
