India's Deepika Kumari won the junior recurve individual women's gold medal getting the better of South Korean top seed Kim Minjung 6-2 in the final at Legnica in Poland on Sunday.
The third seeded Indian archer lost the first set to Kim but recovered to win the next three to log with six points as against Kim's two points. Deepika had beaten Lin Shih-Chia of Chinese Taipei in the semifinals 6-5.
This is for the first time an Indian archer is winning a back-to-back world title. Deepika, 17, had won the cadet recurve individual crown in 2009 at Ogden (US).
Though she was eligible to participate in the cadet section in these worlds, she preferred to move a notch higher to play in u-20 junior section.
The Tata Archery Academy cadet had won the 19th Commonwealth Games women's recurve individual event last year for her first individual gold medal in the senior section.
One silver and two bronze
The junior recurve men's team (Atanu Das, Somnath Mondal and Rajgovind Swansi) lost to Korea in the final 200-214 to pick up silver.
The junior women's team (Deepika Kumari, Rimil Buriuly and Seema Verma), having lost to Korea in the semifinals, tamed Japan in the bronze medal play-off at 201-189.
The second bronze came in the recurve cadet mixed team event where Mainaw Narzary and Binod Swansi downed their Bulgarian counterparts 146-145 in the medal play-off.
