A champion returned to the venue wherein he hit the headlines for the first time. Boxer Vijender Kumar, the Olympic bronze medallist, was at the Sree Kanteerava stadium as part of the Nike athlete at the Sunfeast World 10K.

“The ranking is a great booster…It's always good to know where you stand in the world ahead of a busy year as this. The Commonwealth Games is obviously the major target because we are hosting the event and the whole country is banking on some good performance from us.”

Ahead of the Delhi meet, Vijender Singh will travel to the U.K. and then to Russia and Kazakhstan for exposure cum competitive training.

About the Sunfeast World 10K he said, “these races are so very important to keep our stars in the right frame of mind. Such races will enhance our performances in the Commonwealth and Asian Games. I used to run about eight kms during my training and it helps.”
