Commonwealth Games: Shooter Asab wins bronze for India

Indian shooter Mohd Asab bagged the bronze medal in men’s double trap event at the 20th Commonwealth Games here on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Asab from Meerut shot 26 in the finals to pip Nathan Xuereb of Malta, who managed 24 at the Barry Buddon Centre.

Asab was placed fifth in the qualifications while another Indian shooter in the event, Ankur Mittal had to be content with a fifth-place finish in the finals. Mittal had qualified second for the finals.

Including Asab’s bronze, India have so far won nine medals in shooting in the ongoing Games.
