Indian shuttlers Chetan Anand, Arvind Bhat and Anand Pawar continued their good run by notching up contrasting wins to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the Bitburger Open in Germany on Thursday.

Trupti Murgunde, who won Czech International last week, also advanced to the pre-quarters in the women’s singles category.

Top seed Chetan beat Yuhan Tan of Belgium 21-19 21-11, while 11th seed Pawar brushed aside qualifier Eli Mambwe of Zimbabwe 21-13 21-11 to set up an all-Indian quarterfinal.

Arvind thrashed Czech Jan Froehlich 21-13 21-9 to set up a battle with 14th seed Dmytro Zavadsky of Ukraine.

Trupti, meanwhile, stunned fourth seed Elisabeth Cann of England 21-10 21-14 to set up a clash with Olga Konon of Poland in the second round.

Top seeded Indian men’s doubles pair of Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas also started their campaign on a winning note after sweeping past German combo of Andreas Heinz and Felix Schoppmann 21-12 21-18 in 24 minutes.

However, it was curtains for Sayali Gokhale and Neha Pandit in the women’s singles.

Eighth seed Sayali was the first round casualty who went down to Chloe Magee of Ireland 21-18 21-14 on Wednesday.

Neha also crashed out after suffering a first-round defeat to German Karin Schnaase 21-23 13-21.
