Cash incentive for Vijay Kumar

Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony felicitated Olympic silver medal winning shooter Vijay Kumar with a cash incentive of Rs. 30 lakh, here on Friday.

According to release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Mr. Antony congratulated Vijay on winning the silver medal at the London Olympics and acknowledged his consistent performance in international competitions.

The minister also lauded the contribution of the Armed Forces for having scouted and nurtured talents in various sporting disciplines and providing training and coaching using the state-of-the-art infrastructure. He reposed faith in the Armed forces to produce more international level sportspersons for the nation and hoped that the nation would have a rich haul of medals at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Speaker Meira Kumar felicitated the medal winners and other sportspersons who participated in the London Olympics at a function held in the Parliament library building, said another statement.
