Indian Greco Roman wrestlers missed an Olympic berth in the Asian qualifying event in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Saturday.

All the Indian grapplers in contention lost in the first round itself. Rajender Kumar's 55kg bronze medal was the only consolation.

Rajender lost to eventual champion Kohei Hasegawa of Japan (1-0, 1-0) in the opening round. However, the Commonwealth Games gold medal winner beat Siriphong Champakham of Thailand (5-0, 7-0) and Arsen Eraliev of Kyrgyzstan (1-0, 3-0) in repechage to claim the bronze.

Anil Kumar (60kg), Ravinder Khatri (74kg) and Manoj Kumar (84kg) made an early exit. Sunil Kumar Rana (66kg), who made the repechage round, failed to manage a podium finish.

In 120kg freestyle weight, Joginder Kumar went down fighting against Zhiwei Deng of China (3-2, 0-2, 0-5).

On the opening day of the event, India had booked two Olympics berths through freestyle wrestlers Amit Kumar (55kg) and Yogeshwar Dutt (60kg), while World and Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar (66kg) was unsuccessful.

Indian grapplers, who fail to qualify in Astana, will get two more chances to make the Olympics.
