BPCL triumphs

BPCL (Kochi) defeated ONGC (Dehradun) 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 28-26 in the men's final of the Aircel all-India volleyball tournament at Karaikal on Sunday. The winner received Rs. one lakh as prize money.

Tom Joseph (BPCL) and Subba Rao (ONGC) did well for their respective teams in the title round.

The women's final was won by Central Railway (Mumbai) which beat Western Railway (Mumbai) 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 17-15. Central Railway received Rs. 50,000 for the effort.

Babita and Terin Antony excelled for the winner while Hemalatha, Swetha Reddy played their hearts out for the loser.

Third place: Men: Chennai Customs bt IOB (Chennai) 25-23, 25-20, 25-18.

Women: Southern Railway (Chennai) bt St Joseph's College of Engineering (Chennai) 25-16, 25-21.
