Basketball: MCC College wins tournament

Madras Christian College (MCC) won the RedPhoenix-K. Viswanathan memorial all-india inter-collegiate basketball tournament held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Sunday. MCC won all its three super league matches, beating Loyola, Sathyabama and Jeppiaar Institute of Technology.

Earlier, Loyola College beat Jeppiaar IT 79-71 in a thrilling contest that went into extra-time in the Super League.

Agni beats Bharath University

Agni Engineering beat Bharath University 51-48 in the men’s section of the St. Joseph’s-Raghavendra basketball club all-India inter-collegiate tournament at the Corporation Playground (T. Nagar) on Sunday.

The results: Red Phoenix-K. Viswanathan memorial all-India inter-collegiate tournament: MCC 64 (Kasirajan 21, Muthu Kumar 16) bt Jeppiaar IT 48 (Vijay 14).

Super League: MCC 81 (Nagarajan Vivek 14, Kasirajan 12) bt Loyola 46 (Karthikeyan 12, Antonbethle 10).

Jeppiaar IT 77 (Shashank Rai 16, Moinbek 21, Vijay 18, Arun Kumar 18) bt Sathyabama 73 (Rakesh 25, Mandeep 14, Premkumar 14).

MCC 73 (Kasrirajan 20, Jeevanandam 14) bt Sathyabama 52 (Mandeep 10, Rakesh 14).

Loyola 79 (Antonbethle 22, Kartikeyan 35) bt Jeppiaar IT 71 (Shashank Rai 26, Moinbek 10, Ameetkhan 10).
