Ayonika bags women’s air rifle gold

Ayonika Paul warded off a stiff challenge from three-time Olympian Anjali Bhagwat to capture the women’s air rifle gold in the 13th all-India Kumar Surendra Singh memorial shooting championship here on Friday.

Ayonika led for the most part in the final before beating the seasoned Anjali by one point, 208.8 to 207.8.

The results:

Men: 50-metre free rifle prone: 1. R. Abemo Kikon 208.0 (619.6); 2. Shivaji More 204.9 (614.3); 3. Rakesh Manpat 183.9 (614.1).

Juniors: 1. Aman Walia 612.3; 2. Aadesh K. Chetty 606.5; 3. Navdeep Singh Rathore 606.3.

Junior men: 25m sports pistol: 1. Manpreet Singh 576; 2. Ajitesh Kaushal 573; 3. Samarjit Singh 561.

Women: 10m air rifle: 1. Ayonika Paul 208.8 (415.7); 2. Anjali Bhagwat 207.8 (412.5); 3. Elizabeth Susan Koshy 185.0 (412.1).

Juniors: 1. Apurvi Chandela 416.0; 2. Elizabeth Susan Koshy 412.1; 3. Anjum Moudgil 411.3.

Youth: 1. Mampi Das 409.8; 2. Prachi Pramod Gadkari 408.0; 3. Shreya 403.4.
