Athletics: Bronze is qualifying standard for Asian junior meet

The Athletics Federation of India has fixed the third place of the last Asian junior championship, held in Colombo in 2012, as the qualifying standard for Indian athletes keen to compete in individual events at the forthcoming Asian junior meet in Taipei from June 12.

The AFI’s Selection Committee took this decision at its selection committee meeting in New Delhi on Monday, said C.K. Valson, the secretary of the national association.

The third place performances at the last Asian junior championship (individual events): Boys: 100m: 10.64s. 200m: 21.60s. 400m: 47.73s. 800m: 1:49.37s. 1500m: 3:48.11s. 5000m: 14:58.23s. 10,000m: 31:54.63s. 110m hurdles: 13.94s. 400m hurdles: 51.38s. 3000m steeple chase: 9:22.28s. Long jump: 7.52m. High jump: 2.16m. Triple jump: 15.31m. Pole vault: 4.20m. Discus throw: 55.72m. Shot put: 17.39m. Javelin throw: 68.10m. Hammer throw: 59.86m. 10,000m race walk: 45:05.27s. Decathlon: 5422 pts.

Girls: 100m: 12.17s. 200m: 25.09s. 400m: 56.03s. 800m: 2:09.60s. 1500m: 4:26.76s. 3000m: 9:31.22s. 5000m: 16:32.02s. 100m hurdles: 14.59s. 400m hurdles: 1:01.45s. 3000m steeple chase: 10:55.76s.
