Asian men’s basketball: Iran thrashes India

India lost to title-favourite Iran 102-58 in the second round of the 27th Asian men’s basketball championship on Monday.

Iran maintained its dominance right through the four quarters, winning 25-12, 26-10, 27-17, 24-19 in the opening match of the second round at Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay.

Vishesh Bhriguvanshi was the best Indian performer with 15 points, while Narender Kumar Grewal and Amjyot Singh chipped in with 10 points each.

India moved into the second round after Bahrain did it a huge favour by beating Thailand in the final preliminary game on Sunday.

Another formidable challenge awaits India as it takes on China on Tuesday.
