Asian Grand Prix archery: India wins two golds

The Indian men’s recurve team and women’s compound team won gold medals in the team championships of the first Asian Grand Prix archery championship in Bangkok on Thursday.

The recurve trio of Jayanta Talukdar, Tarundeep Rai and Kapil defeated Chinese Taipei 6-0, while the compound team comprising Jyothi Surekha, Gagandeep Kaur and Lily Chanu scored a 219-204 victory over Iran in the final.

The men’s compound team consisting of Abhishek Varma, Sandeep Kumar and Rajat Chauhan lost to Iran 227-232 to settle for silver.

The recurve women — Deepika Kumar, Bombayla Devi and Laxmirai — finished fourth.
