19:15 And South Korea has done it. It finishes 24-22 in the third set. All to play for again as that victory means Lin Dan's earlier victory is cancelled out. 1-1 now in the men's team event final.

19:12 Controversy. South Korea think they have kissed the line but the referee rules in China's favour. 21-21.

19:11 Great moment from the Chinese duo has saved the match point. 20-20 in the third.

19:10 This has been a humdinger and South Korea have a first match point.. 20-19 in the third set.

19:04 Into the home straight of the third and deciding set of the second match between China and South Korea. Nothing to seperate the two sides. Deadlocked at 14-14.

18:43 Pressure? What pressure? China back into the encounter with a hard fought 22-20 victory to take the second set. Going into the deciding third set in this men's team final.

China has beaten 3-0 in one of the men's team semifinals.

South Korea beat North Korea by an identical scoreline in the other men's team semifinal.

Some football news. South Korea, which has largely been playing second fiddle to China as far as the medals table go, beat China 3-0 in football. Emphatic victory to say the least.

18:29 China leads the second set 11-8.

Some people have written in saying that the live updates have been static for a while. I apologise for the delay. The website had faced technical issues but it is up and running now. Please do continue wriitng into liveresponse@thehindu.co.in

18:20 South Korea has taken the opening set of the second match in this best of five match-series rubber. The Chinese are under some pressure here - and that's not something I have told in the last three days.

18:14 South Korea are back in this match-up. It leads China 18-16 in the first set.

18:07 Unbelievable rally. Goes back and forth until South Korea, which did seem in control for most of the rally, finds the net. Cue for the crowd to erupts. China leads 11-10 in the first set.

18:00 The second match in the men's team final between South Korea and China is up and running. It's deadlocked at 8-8 in the first set.

17:53 China's Li Xueying wins a weightlifting gold in the woemn's 58kg category.

17:50 The crowd erupts as Lin Dan takes the third and deciding set 21-18. A perfect start for China which leads the men's team event final 1-0.

17:46 Park has staged a remarkable fightback. From 15-8 at one stage, the South Korean has almost levelled it at 18-16.

17:40 Lin is finding all the angles and coming off the victor in the longer rallies. Park's down the smashes is keeping him the game though. Lin leads 12-8 in the third set.

17:35 Both players have won a set but Dan holds a slender 9-6 advantage in the third.

17:29 Earlier in the day, China comfortably saw off Thailand to lift the gold in the women's team event in badminton. Can the Chinese complete a 1-2?

17:26 Action between China and South Korea in badminton. Lin Dan against Park Sunghwan. This is the gold medal match-up in the men's team event.

17:20 China is just dominating the medals table at the moment. And it has added one more medal against its name. The men's 4X200 metre freestyle relay in swimming is the latest discipline to be won by the Chinese.

17:13 Dominating, emphatic, commanding... call it what you want to call. South Korea, without demolishing India, has beaten it with a degree of ease. It wraps up the third set 25-19 and the match.

17:05 Well and truly into the business end of the set with South Korea dominating proceedings. It has a 20-13 lead in the third set and looks like the end is near for India.

17:02 Ryosuke Irie of Japan takes the gold in the men's 200 metre backstroke final.

17:00 The commentator tells a staggering statistic: "Park has a spiking success rate of 61%".

India slowly but surely fading. South Korea leads 15-10 in the third set.

16:55 Looks to be a carbon copy of the first two sets. South Korea leads 8-5 in the third set.

16:50 Some news coming in from the weightlifting arena. India's Ravi Kumar finishes fifth in the men's 69 kg category.

16:48 Back to the pool where there is a lot of action taking place. China's Jiao Liuyang wins the gold in the women's 200 metres butterfly.

16:46 An anti-climax and South Korea wins the second set. An Indian net touch gives China a two-set advantage.

16:45 South Korea now leads 23-18 in the second set. While India has been more than competitive, South Korea has won all the big points in both the sets.

16:40 South Korea's Park is like a battering ram at the moment and India cannot do much but just take their touches and hope for a mistake. It's 20-15 in South Korea's favour.

16:32 Does Indian artistic gymnastics excite you?

If yes, you will be disappointed to know that India's Ashish Kumar finished second from bottom (23rd of 24 competitors) in the final of the men's individual all-round artistic gymnastics competition. PTI has this report:

Ashish, who created history last month by bagging India’s first medal in gymnastics in a multi-sport event, was nowhere near his best today, as he finished with a total score of 64.750, way behind the top three position holders.

China’s Haibin Teng and Bo Lu bagged the gold and silver in this event with a score of 91.100 and 89.950 respectively, while bronze medal went to Japan’s Hisashi Mizutori (89.700).

16:30 Much better from India. After trailing in the early stages. it has taken the lead through a service ace. 9-8 India in the second set.

16:25 It is always amazing how youngsters perform so well in the pool (Cue for me to sing praises about the likes of Kukla). China's Shao Yiwen takes the gold in the women's 400 metre freestyle. And she is just 15.

16:23 No shortage of commitment from the Indians but South Korea has taken the early lead in the second set (4-1)

16:20 A quick look into the pool. Japan wins the gold in the men's 100 metre breastroke. And no, it was Kosuke Kitajima. Ryo Tateishi got the gold. Kitajima, infact, finished in fourth place.

16:18 South Korea has taken the first-set 25-19. But there is enough evidence to suggest that India could well stage a comeback victory.

16:16 Two service-errors from South Korea in the last four points. But it still leads 22-18.

16:14 South Korea's C. Park seems to be the catalyst. The South Koreans have taken a 19-14 lead. India answers by bringing on no. 10 Naveen. Remember him, he was instrumental on Sunday.

16:10 An innovative drop by India sees South Korea finding the net. But South Korea has gone on a little run here and it leads 16-13 in the first set.

16:08 India has levelled things in the first set. After getting four of the last five points on offer, the scoreline says 12 each.

16:05 11-8 in favour of South Korea. And the South Korean's are spiking brilliantly. India nowhere near able to execute the perfect block.

16:02 And India are on the back foot against the South Koreans. It is 8-5 to the South Koreans in the first set.

16:00 Dreamed of spiking after a perfect set-up by the boost in the volleyball court? While I cannot promise you that, I have got the next best thing. Action from the volleyball courts as India take South Korea.

15:59 Want to know what happened to the Indian paddlers on Monday. Click >here to found out.

15:49 In that 50 freestyle swimming final which just happened, India's Vikram Khade missed out on the bronze by less than .5 of a second. To borrow an overused phrase, "so near, yet so far."

15:47 My colleague Swaroop Swaminathan is here to bring you the rest of the action.

15:45 A quick sojourn to the Pool as China takes the gold in the men's 50 mtr Freestyle final.

15:40 China wins the gold medal for the event as India take the silver in the men's finals of the snooker team event.

15:20 India take on China in the finals of the snooker team event. Ravi Kumar Kuttala is out of the medals race in weightlifiting as he just failed his thrid attempt in the clean and jerk event. That's another disappointing exit for an Indian.

14:56 A highlight on some of the events of today that we've missed. In the men's field hockey India crushed Hong Kong 7-0, >Click here for a detailed report.

India’s first woman world champion in shooting, Tejaswini Sawant, drew blank today in the Asian Games. She has failed to qualify for the finals of the 50m rifle prone event.

14:53 And it is Chinese Taipei through into the finals. India will have to settle for the bronze. Taipei simply prove to be the stronger team.

14:51 A clever drop shot by Chinese Taipei, and it is five match points for them.

14:50 A poor return again by the Indians, this time it is Sanam Singh. Taipei now lead 5-0. 2 points away from reaching the finals.

14:48 The pressure mounting on India as they trail 0-2 in the tie break. An easy drop shot goes wide for Somdev.

14:46 Somdev's wins the game for India. It will now boil down to the tie breaker in the second set.

14:44 Somdev serving. India lead 30-15. India have to win this game to take it to the tie-breaker.

14:42 A powerful serve along the T. Somdev in full stretch but can't get to it. Chinese Taipei take the lead 6 games to 5. That's 3 games in a row for them now.

14:41 Deuce. Chinese Taipei are fighting hard. A poor return and now they have the lead. Advantage Taipei.

14:39 Taipei serving 15-40. A little over excitement by Singh as he smashes the ball wide.

14:37 A double fault by Singh and it is back to 5 games all. A great volley for the Indians. They have to break this game to take a 6-5 lead.

14:35 India lead 5 sets to 4 in the second set.

Hello and welcome, I will be taking you through the second half of the day's sporting action. I will follow up on Anand's coverage of India semi-final encounter against Taipei (China) in the men's double's tennis. Before shifting onto the close coverage of the tennis match, news from the weightlifing arena is that Ravi Kuttala of India just lifted 141kg in the snatch event in his third attempt. Some great determination shown by the young man.
