Ashwini in squad

Ashwini A.C, who had finished second in the trials in Patiala, expectedly made it into the 4x400m women’s relay team as the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) selection panel on Saturday finalised the names of athletes for the Moscow world athletics championships.

The AFI selection committee, which met under the chairmanship of Gurbachan Singh Randhawa here, decided to send a team of six runners for the relay event.

Other athletes: Men: Renjith Maheswary (triple jump), Vikas Gowda (discus), Gurmeet Singh and Chandan Singh (20km walk); Basanta Bahadur Rana and Sandeep Kumar (50km walk).

Women: Sudha Singh (3000m steeplechase) and Khushbir Kaur (20km walk).
