Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) secretary K. Ch. Punnaiah Chowdary, on Sunday, said that the association has decided to take legal action against the shuttlers who pulled out of the 79th Senior National badminton championship, both in team and individual events.

The players who skipped the premier national tournament are Saina Nehwal, P. Kashyap, Gurusai dutt and Ajay Jayaram, all Petroleum Sports Promotion Board players.

“I will also urge the Badminton Association of India (BAI) to take severe action against these players,” he said.

Chowdary said the elite players skipped the domestic events in order to prepare for overseas tournaments. “Some even submit fake certificates,” he said. Chief National coach P. Gopichand said that appropriate action should be taken by the association against the players.
