Anahad Jawanda clinched the 25m sports pistol gold with a score of 584 in the 27th Meeting of Shooting Hopes international junior competition which concluded here on Sunday.
Jawanda had 289 in the precision stage and 295 in the rapid fire section, as he beat Oskar Miliwek of Poland by two points, in the non-Olympic event that does not feature a final.
It was the first individual gold medal for India in the four-day competition.
Yashaswini Singh Deswal bagged the bronze in junior women air pistol, and missing a better medal by 0.6 point. Yashaswini shot 379, the second best score in qualification, and followed that with 218.0 in the final.
Even though she did not have a good foundation with her first 12 shots before elimination in the 24-shot final, Yashaswini fought bravely to stay in the race, till shots of 8.6 and 9.6 saw her tumble out with the bronze.
Veronika Major of Hungary and Denisa Bezdecna of the Czech Republic won the gold and silver respectively.
