Yashaswini shot ahead of national women’s champion Malaika Goel to clinch the Youth Olympics quota place in air pistol along with the individual silver medal in the seventh Asian Air Gun Championship in Kuwait City on Wednesday.
Though there were four quota places on offer and the Indian girls finished second to fourth behind Kim Minjung of Korea, India could only get one quota place as per the rules.
The Indian girls, with Gauri Sheoran as the third member, had little difficulty in sweeping the team gold, 15 points ahead of China.
In the junior women’s section, Shreya Gawande missed the silver by 0.6 point to Huang Xiao of China but comfortably made it to the bronze medal.
She also won the team silver in partnership with Sakshi Dagar and Nayani Bhardwaj.
Overall, India won five gold, six silver and eight bronze medals in the four-day meet.
