The euphoria over sending the largest-ever Olympics contingent to Rio is evaporating fast. After wrestler Narsingh Yadav, shot-putter Inderjeet Singh has tested positive for steroids, just 10 days before the Games kicks off.

According to the National Anti-Doping Agency, the result of Inderjeet’s A sample was received on Monday night and it tested positive for Etiocholanolone and Androsterone, both weak steroids used to build up muscular strength and upper body energy.

He has been placed under provisional suspension, pending hearing.

The Athletics Federation of India has said it could not monitor athletes outside national camps.
