6-Red National from Dec. 16

Top stars, including Advani and Vidya, will be seen in action

Defending champion Pankaj Advani, current World No. 2 Kamal Chawla, Ishpreet Singh, Faizal Khan, Alok Kumar and Rafath Habib are some of the notable players who will be seen in action in the 6-Red National tournament which will be held here from December 16 to 23.

The men’s qualifying event will begin on December 16 and the main event from December 20. The final will be held on December 23.

The women’s event will see defending champion Amee Kamani, along with Vidya Pillai, Chitra Magimairaj and Arantxa Sanchis are the star attraction.

The qualifying rounds will be played in the double elimination format.

Last year’s top-16 qualify directly for the main draw.

From the qualifying rounds, 48 players will join the main draw and four players of 16 groups play the round-robin league.

Two players from each group will make it to the round-of-32 and this format will continue till the title clash.

From Tamil Nadu, players including J. Varun Kumar, Pranit Ramachandani, S.A. Saleem and S. Shrikrishna are participating in the qualifying.

In the women’s category, Anupama Ramachandran, Neena Praveen, Soumini Srinivas are representing Tamil Nadu.
