The International Olympic Council (IOC) evaluation commission has begun a four-day inspection of Madrid’s bid for the 2020 Summer Games.
IOC officials arrived here on Monday for the inspection. Madrid is competing with Tokyo and Istanbul, wherein the IOC’s scheduled voting for selecting the host city to be held on September 7.
The IOC inspection team has already visited Tokyo and is expected to travel to Istanbul next week.

I do not know how the three bid cities compare in the technical
aspects, but going by history and sentiment, my personal preference is
Istanbul, 'golden city', for hosting the 1920 Olympics. Turkey has a
long history as a Eurasian country, is a modern Islamic state, and has
a strong sporting tradition [mainly football, athletics, basketball,
weightlifting and wrestling]. Istanbul itself is transcontinental, and
generally considered one of the outstanding cities of the world. And,
unlike Tokyo and Madrid, the city lies in a country which has never
hosted the Olympics.
