Vishnu Prasad is one who loves to take the risky route. But the Chennai youngster planned his every move and played it safe when it mattered most to finish on top in the opening race of the JK Racing India Series in the second round of the FMSCI-JK Tyre racing championship, at the Kari Motor Speedway circuit in Chettipalayam, here on Saturday.

The Formula LGB4 class witnessed quite a few spin outs, pile-ups, red flags, safety car visits and restarts. It did affect the flow of the front runners but not Chennai’s Ajay Kini, a pilot by profession.

The ambitious driver, representing Team Dark Don Racing, looked calm and composed right through and, quite fittingly, walked away with a double victory.

The results:

FLGB4: Race 1 (15 laps): 1. Ajay Kini (Dark Don Racing, Chennai) 20:45.770; 2. Raghul Rangasamy (Meco Racing, Chennai) 20:49.034; 3. T.S. Diljith (Avalanche, Thrissur) 20:52.200. Race 2 (14 laps): 1. Ajay Kini 17:09.948; 2. Raghul Rangasamy 17:18.976; 3. Krishnaraaj D. Mahadik 17:19.701.

VW Vento Cup: Race 1 (10 laps): 1. Anindith Reddy Konda (Hyderabad) 13:22.137; 2. Ishaan Dodhiwala (Hyderabad) 13:22.997; 3. Karminder Singh (Delhi) 13:26.966. — Special Correspondent
