The Force India Formula One Team Academy launched the Chennai leg of its ‘One from a billion hunt' initiative here on Monday.

The programme, aimed at identifying racing talent in the age group of 14-17 years through a Karting competition, will be held at Kart Attack, near ECR, here between May 30 and June 5. Participants will be required to do five laps and their best lap timing will be considered for selection. 14 racers from Chennai will be shortlisted and they will compete with 86 finalists from six other cities in the National Final during September.

Ten racers will then be selected for a week-long stint at Silverstone. The final three winners will be announced in October. “Through the hunt we hope to identify and nurture racing talent in India. We are looking forward to a fantastic response in Chennai,” said Ravikant Sabnavis, Vice President-Marketing, Kingfisher Airlines, primary sponsor of the Academy. Registration can be done at the venue on all seven days of the competition.
