Nothing wrong in honour for Tendulkar

October 25, 2012 02:26 am | Updated 02:26 am IST - GREATER NOIDA

Formula One driver Mark Webber said that since Australia had conferred the Order of Australia honour on other cricketers, there was no problem in choosing Sachin Tendulkar for the same.

The Australian driver said, “They are giving Order of Australia to cricket players from other nations as well, looks like they have been doing it for a while now.”

“Australians have respect for Sachin. We know that. I suppose the government has respect for Sachin. It’s a tricky one really. When you want to give that to Brian Lara, you have to give it to Sachin.”

Webber said he had great admiration for Tendulkar. “He is one of the most amazing sportsmen we have ever had. Everybody knows that and the Australians know that,” he said.
