: Narain Karthikeyan will be the lone Indian driver to be racing in Formula One this season. Karthikeyan has signed for Hispania Racing for the second consecutive year and will race alongside the experienced 40-year-old Spanish driver Pedro de la Rosa.

He declared his strong performance in the inaugural Indian Grand Prix was crucial in earning him a seat for the whole season.

“I was out of the car for four months before driving in the Indian Grand Prix and the way I performed pleased the new management,” added the Indian, who had been replaced by Australian Daniel Ricciardo midway through last season.

He also rubbished rumours that a bigger sponsorship deal got him the seat. “There were some drivers who could have generated more resources.”
