Franck Montagny has held informal talks with USF1 to drive for the new US-based Formula One team next season.
The Frenchman, who made seven starts in 2006 with the Super Aguri team, exchanged e-mails with one of the team’s principals, Peter Windsor, L’Equipe sports daily reported.
“But they are having these kind of talks with all third drivers of the existing teams,” Montagny said. “Nothing has been signed.”
Montagny, a former Renault test driver, also said he had a good experience in Indy Racing League for Andretti Green Racing this year, and that he is likely to race again with the team.
“I think the relationship was fine and there is a possibility that we renew this common experience before the end of the year,” Montagny said. “On an oval circuit.”
Montagny is also scheduled to race the Petit Le Mans with Peugeot in the American Le Mans Series later this month. He has made seven starts for Michael Andretti’s team in ALMS last year.
