Nico Huelkenberg is to leave the Williams Formula One team, his management said on Monday.
The German driver and the British team have been unable to agree on a contract extension, his manager, Willi Weber said.
Huelkenberg, 23, is now looking for a new drive for 2011 following his debut F1 season with Williams in which he gained his first pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix last week.
He spent the previous two years as test driver for Williams where he started 19 races this season, garnering 22 points.
“I regret it very much because I would have liked to have stayed at Williams,” Huelkenberg said in the statement from his management.
“I want to thank the team for the great time I had and wish Williams all the best for the future.” Weber said he was negotiating with other teams, saying “Nico will have a place in Formula One in 2011.”
