Heartbreak for Ruhaan Alva

) Ruhaan Alva’s debut in the World Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals ended in unfortunate fashion on Sunday, with the Indian racing driver disqualified on a technicality following a 12th-place finish.

Alva was found to be 100 grams underweight at the mandatory post-race weigh-in, where the kart along with the driver in full racing gear should weigh at least 110 kg. The 11-year-old, who tipped the scales at 109.9kg, was understandably disappointed.

“It was a great learning experience for me, competing against the best in the world,” he said. “I thought I could have done much better, but I’m happy that I could finish 12th in a field of 36 in my category that was extremely competitive. Of course, it was very disappointing.”

Alva had qualified 10th for the Pre-Final and 13th for the Final, where he clocked his best lap of the week with a time of one minute, 07.992 seconds around the 1.5 km-long circuit.
