After two weeks of drama and confusion, motor sport's national body FMSCI and Narain Karthikeyan have signed the ‘peace treaty'.
“The matter has been resolved. It has been settled amicably between us,” said K.D. Madan, the FMSCI President, on Thursday. “The orders have been sent to our drivers.”
Last month, the FMSCI issued a show cause notice to former F-1 driver Narain, who runs the NK Racing team, after he ‘spoke' to the media expressing surprise when his team driver Parthiva Sureshwaran was docked a 10-second penalty for missing a drivers' briefing during the MRF ‘International' Challenge in Chennai. The matter appeared to take some twists after that.
World Truck Series
With the FMSCI issue now coming to an end, Narain can now heave a sigh of relief as he gears up for his debut season in a rather new world — the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the Kroger 250 at the Martinsville Speedway, Virginia in the US, later this month.
The 33-year-old Coimbatore-based driver, who enjoys over 20 seasons of experience in open-wheel racing, including Formula One and the Le Mans Series, will now drive the Wyler Racing No 60 Safe Auto Chevrolet Silverado, a sort of pick-up truck. A good showing in the World Truck Series will open the doors for NASCAR'S premier event, the Sprint Cup for cars.
