The Mahindra Racing team had a double top ten finish in the Moto3 World Championship opener in Qatar on Sunday with its Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira taking the seventh spot and Spaniard Efrén Vázquez finishing 10th.
The two were riding Mahindra’s new MGP3O, the 250cc four-stroke bikes, and had qualified fifth and eighth for Sunday’s main race.
“A very encouraging start, considering that six months ago this bike was still on the drawing board,” said Mufaddal Choonia, the CEO of Mahindra Racing.
Good platform
“It gives us a good platform to build on. We are so fresh and new into the project, and I am confident that we can really grow from here on.”
Meanwhile, Mahindra tasted success in Moto3 in Italy in the CIV Championship at Mugello with its rider Andrea Locatelli climbing the podium twice, winning the first race and third in the next.
Another Mahindra rider, Michael Rinaldi, took the eighth spot in the first run and sixth in the second.
