Ferrari’s Felipe Massa was fastest in the second practice session on Friday for the British Grand Prix.
Massa posted one minute 49.967 seconds in difficult conditions on a rain-affected Silverstone circuit, 0.777 seconds ahead of Nico Rosberg in a Mercedes and 1.428 up on Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi.
Championship leader Sebastian Vettel was eighth after finishing 13th in the first session. Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber was fastest in the first session before having the 14th best time in the afternoon.
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton came out for only the last six minutes in the second session to finish fourth fastest ahead of team-mate Jenson Button, while Massa’s team-mate Fernando Alonso was 15th.
Webber, who won at Silverstone last year, clocked a fastest lap of 1:46.603 in the morning ahead of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in a Mercedes, who was 12th in the afternoon.
Kobayashi badly damaged his car in the first session when he lost control on the home straight and smashed into a barrier.
