Chennai’s Armaan Ebrahim finished ninth in his maiden race at the FIA GT1 world championship in Moscow on Sunday.

Armaan, who was paired with French driver Benjamin Lariche in a Ford for Spanish team Sunred, picked up two points for the effort.

Heavy rain just before the start made track conditions treacherous.

The start of the 60-minute main race, which was making its debut in Russia, was behind the safety car.

The GT1 world features fiercely competitive racing between some of the world’s famed luxury sports car brands. Hexis McLaren’s Stef Dusseldorp and Fred Makowiecki won the Moscow round with teammates Alvaro Parente and Gregoire Demoustier finishing runner-up.

The results : 1. Frederic Makowiecki & Stef Dusseldorp (Hexis Racing/McLaren, 29 laps, 1:01.33.418s), 2. Alvaro Parente & Gregory Demoustier (Hexis Racing, 29 laps, 1:01.58.829), 9. Armaan Ebrahim & Benjamin Lariche (Sunred/Ford, 28 laps, 1:02.30.275).
