Kenyans dominate the show in Pune Marathon

Kenya’s Augustine Ronoh stole the show as he was crowned winner of the 24th Pune International Marathon 2009 here today.

Ronoh covered the distance of 12.195 km. in 2hrs 13.05 seconds. He was followed by compatriot Peter Mutisya (2hrs 15:17 seconds) and Tanzania’s Andrea Sinvini Mathiya (2hrs 15.59 seconds).

Kenya continued its domination in the half Marathon for women as well, with Agnes Katunge Mutune winning the 21.095 km race, clocking an impressive 1hr 10.30 seconds.

Arvind Kumar was the fastest Indian in the full Marathon with a timing of 2 hrs 22:21 seconds. He was followed by Ram Singh who covered the race in 2 hrs 22:27 seconds.

Kavita Raut completed the half-marathon for women in 1hr 12.50 seconds to finish as the fastest Indian woman and fourth fastest overall.
