A special team of Delhi police had picked up a cricket bookie Mohammed, accused of involvement in the recently busted sensational IPL spot fixing case, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Thursday midnight. Police sources said the accused hailing from Mumbai was trying to flee to Dubai.
On a tip-off that he would be arriving at Hyderabad, the Delhi police flew to the RGIA and lay in wait. Coordinating with the Central Industrial Security Force personnel –in-charge of the security at the airport-, they caught Mohammed here. After questioning him at the airport for some time, they took him back to Delhi for further probe.
Sources maintained that Mohammed having underworld connections learnt that investigators were after him. To evade police, he wanted to fly to Dubai and came to Hyderabad to board a Dubai-bound flight.
