India achieved its best ever gold tally at the Commonwealth Games, reaching the figure of 32 medals on Tuesday to eclipse its previous high of 30 recorded in Manchester (2002).
In what was the other highlight of the day, India came from behind to edge England on penalties in a pulsating men's hockey semi-final. India upturned a 3-1 deficit to level the contest 3-3 at the end of regulation time. The match was decided on penalties (5-4) after both halves of extra time failed to resolve the deadlock.
The Dr. Karni Singh shooting range was the site of India's historic 31st gold, as Heena Sidhu and Annu Raj Singh triumphed in the women's 10m air pistol pairs event. Fourteen of India's 32 gold have come via the shooters.
Manjeet Kaur, Sini Jose, Ashwini Chidananda Akkunji and Mandeep Kaur registered a stunning win in the women's 4x400m relay, bagging the first-ever track gold medal by the country's women at the Games.
