India scored 63 for no loss at lunch on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Sunday. The Indian openers – skipper Virender Sehwag (38 n.o., 41b, 6x4) and Gautam Gambhir (22 n.o.) played with a large measure of comfort against the three-pronged pace attack of Bangladesh after the host skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opted to field following a 90-minute delayed start due to fog and bad light.

Sehwag remained positive while Gambhir gradually settled down despite some early tentativeness and when spin was employed after 11 overs, the Indian duo handled it with ease. For India, Dinesh Karthik and Ishant Sharma replaced the injured duo of regular skipper M.S. Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh while seamer Shafiul Islam made his Test debut for Bangladesh and did bowl with a nice rhythm.
