India beats France

August 04, 2015 11:58 pm | Updated March 29, 2016 01:11 pm IST - e Touquet (France):

Talented Chinglensana Singh and seasoned S.V. Sunil struck a goal apiece as the Indian men’s hockey team started its tour of Europe on a bright note with a 2-0 win over France.

The Sardar Singh-led team dominated the proceedings throughout in the opening game which was held on Monday.

The Indians drew first blood in the 18th minute (third minute of the second quarter) when the opportunistic Chinglensana capitalised on the defensive lapse to enter the ‘D’ and the powerfully struck hit found the back of the net.

India increased the pressure with repeated raids, which resulted in the second goal by Sunil.

Sunil scored a field goal as he dribbled past a host of French defenders before slotting the ball home in the 26th minute.
