An Agreement of Users’ Right to the Indian Football Association for Rabindra Sarobar Stadium was today signed between the IFA and the West Bengal Government in the presence of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

State Sports Minister Kanti Ganguly, IFA President S. B. Ganguly, and Secretary Utpal Ganguli, were also present during the signing of agreement. The state government gave the 125-year-old IFA Rabindra Sarobar ground for host football matches.

Even as the agreement was for five years, it could be renewed if IFA wants, the sports minister said.

The minister, however, said that it would not deprive those who play at the stadium now. A calendar for the users would be finalised soon, he said.

Presently IFA has no football ground of its own and thus it was looking for a dedicated venue since long. IFA officials said the association would maintain the stadium and was also thinking of setting up of a football academy there.
