Indian opener and Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir insisted that he has completely recovered from the concussion he sustained during the recent tour of England, even though he was out for a duck in his IPL team’s loss to Somerset in the Champions League Twenty20.
“I am 100 per cent fit and that is why I was playing,” he told reporters in the post—match press conference after the Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Somerset by five wickets on Sunday night.
Gambhir, who didn’t compete in the event’s qualifying stages due to the concussion, said his team would look to rectify the mistakes made in the match against Somerset.
“The way they batted in the first six overs, it took the game away from us. But I think we did really well to take the game to the last over. So, there are a lot of positives from this game. Hopefully, we don’t make the same mistakes that we made today. Hopefully, we will try and come back hard,” he said.
Gambhir said the 161 runs made by his team against Somerset was a good total.
“162 runs is a good total on the board. Hopefully, we can again make 162, as I have a lot of confidence in our bowlers. Today, they batted really well and all credit goes to Somerset,” he said.
“We have got three more games. Hopefully, we can will all three and reach the semi—finals. Sometimes, when you know that you have got to win all games, you go out and give everything. We can bounce back, I have confidence in this squad,” Gambhir said.
