BSIT in semifinals

Bandari Srinivas Institute of Technology-I entered the semifinals of the BSIT Cup inter-engineering college cricket tournament with a seven-run win over MLRITS at Chevella near here on Tuesday.

In another match, BSIT-II recorded a 16-run win over Mahaveer College of Engineering.

The scores: BSIT-I 68 for nine (Pavan 30, Abhilash four for 25) bt MLRITS 61 for four.

BSIT-II 96 for six bt Mahaveer 80 for five (Arun three for 19).

Inter-college sports

Osmania University inter-college kabaddi tournament for women will be held at Kasturba Gandhi College on August 24 and 25. The teams should report to Dr. Deepla, Secretary, ICT (Women), at the venue by 9.00 a.m. on the opening day.

The OU inter-college kabaddi tournament for men will be held at OU Grounds on August 29 at 9.00 a.m. The teams should report to Dr. Rajesh Kumar, secretary, ICT, at the venue.

The OU inter-college chess tournament for men will be held at Regency College of Hotel Management (Banjara Hills) from August 26 to 28. The teams should report to Dr. B. Somalingam, organising secretary, at the venue.

Tennis tournament

Sun-Jay Tennis Academy (Administrative Staff College of India) will organise a sub-junior open tennis tournament for boys and girls in the age groups of eight to 14 years at ASCI Courts from August 28 to 30. For details, call M. Sanjay Kumar (9391020583).

Sriram, Syam sizzle

M.U.B. Sriram and G. Syam Sundar scored centuries as Visakhapatnam amassed 423 for seven declared against Srikakulam in the first innings of the ACA North Zone under-22 inter-district tournament at Srikakulam on Monday.

After only an hour‘s play was possible on the first day when Visakhapatnam made 23 for two, Sriram (182, 22x4,2x6) and Syam Sundar (107, 9x4,1x6) sent Srikakulam on a leather hunt on the second day.

The scores: Visakhapatnam 423 for seven decl. in 103 overs (M.U.B. Sriram 182, G. Syam Sundar 107, G.V.L. Harsha 75, B. Dilip Kumar three for 91) vs. Srikakulam 13 for no loss in five overs.

Senior national kabaddi

The fifth senior National kabaddi championships will be held at the Ramakrishna beach, Visakhapatnam, from August 25 to 28. Indian teams for South Asian Beach Games in Colombo in October and the third Asian Beach Games in China in 2012 will be picked during this event.
