Shahabad girls to meet Kiddy’s Corner in final

Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Shahabad Markanda (Haryana), will meet Kiddy’s Corner Girls Higher Secondary School, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), in the final of the 19th Nehru girls’ hockey tournament.

The Shahabad side thrashed Directorate General NCC 9-0, while Kiddy’s Corner defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-18, Chandigarh, 3-1 in the semifinals at the Shivaji Stadium here on Wednesday.

Brace by four players

Manjit, Navneet Kaur, Amrinder and Gurleen scored a brace each in the Shahbad team’s victory. Reet completed the tally.

Priyanka Wankhede’s double along with Preeti Dubey’s goal helped the Gwalior girls reach the final.

Pooja was the lone scorer for the Chandigarh school.

Government Girls SSS, Shahabad Markanda, Haryana, 9 (Manjit 2, Navneet Kaur 2, Amrinder 2, Gurleen 2, Reet) bt Directorate General NCC 0.

Kiddy’s Corner Girls HSS, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, 3 (Priyanka Wankhede 2, Preeti Dubey) bt Government Model SSS, Sector-18, Chandigarh, 1 (Pooja).
